Symbolism of the card

A figure in a white tunic and red cloak raises a wand toward the sky with one hand and points to the earth with the other: "as above, so below". On the table before him lie a cup, a sword, a pentacle and a wand – the four suits and the four elements, every tool he needs. An infinity sign floats above his head, a snake eats its own tail at his waist, and roses and lilies grow around him. He is the channel through which intention becomes action.

The Magician upright

Upright, The Magician tells you that the resources for what you want are already within reach. You have the skills, the ideas and the will – now it is a matter of focus. This is a card of initiative and of making things happen: choosing one goal, bringing your talents together, and acting with confidence. It often appears when you are ready to start something you have been planning, or when a clear message, a good pitch or a well-timed conversation could change the situation. Concentration is the key; scattered effort dilutes his power.

The Magician reversed

Reversed, The Magician suggests that power is being misused or left unused. It can describe someone who talks well but does not deliver, a situation where you are being sold an illusion, or your own temptation to cut corners. It can also be quieter: talent you are not using because you doubt yourself, or energy split across too many projects. The card asks you to look for honesty – in others and in your own plans – and to gather your scattered focus into one clear intention.

In money and finances

Upright

Financially, The Magician favours resourcefulness: turning a skill into income, finding a creative solution, or making smart use of what you already have.
