Symbolism of the card
A dancing figure, wrapped in a violet scarf, floats inside a large laurel wreath tied with red ribbons. She holds a wand in each hand. In the four corners are the man, the eagle, the lion and the bull seen on the Wheel of Fortune, now calm rather than reading their books. The wreath is both a victory crown and a doorway: the end of one journey and the threshold of the next.
The World upright
Upright, The World marks completion. A cycle has come full circle – a project finished, a goal reached, a lesson fully learned. It brings a deep sense of fulfilment and belonging, of being exactly where you are meant to be. It can also point to travel and wider horizons. When it appears, take time to celebrate and acknowledge how far you have come. Soon The Fool will set out again, but for now, enjoy the wholeness.
The World reversed
Reversed, The World suggests that something is not quite finished. You may be close to a goal but missing a final step, or seeking closure that has not yet arrived. It can also warn against taking shortcuts to reach the end faster. Look at what loose ends remain and complete them; the sense of fulfilment will follow.
